Hazel Jewell Witthaus, of Warrenton, Mo., passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Warrenton Manor in Wright City, Mo., at the age of 94 years.
Hazel was born to William T. and Cora Jane (nee-Johnston) Holman on March 5, 1918 in E. St. Louis, Il.
She was united in marriage to Ira Leo Witthaus on October 19, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1990. They celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Hazel and her husband, Ira, owned and operated Witthaus Electric in Wright City, Mo., for many years. She was a member of College United Methodist Church in Warrenton, Mo., the Gardening Club in Wright City, Mo. and the Eastern Star Grace Chapter 323 DES in Warrenton, Mo. Along with gardening, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include two great-nephews; Kenneth Kirk and Tom Kirk, both of Chicago, Ill., devoted caregiver, LaVonna Frye, of Warrenton, Mo., other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Beulah Kirk.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M., at Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main, Warrenton, Mo. 63383. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at College United Methodist Church in Warrenton, Mo., with burial following at Warrenton City Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Order of The Eastern Star Grace Chapter 323 in C/O the funeral home.
